    The film was an Italian/German/Sri Lankan co-production shot on location entirely in Colombo over a period of three months in early 2007, with local actors in Sinhala. Apart from Pasolini, other international crew included Director of Photography Stefano Falivene and editor Masahiro Hirocubo.

    The Sri Lankan leg of this inter-continental WWI epic was shot in early 2011, with a mixed German/Sri Lankan crew over twenty days.
